Sokoto Area comprises Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States respectively. There are ten zones in the area, with Sokoto having two, Zamfara three and Kebbi State five. For School branches, there are twelve (12) JFCS branches, six (6) vibrant POSEC and about ninty (90) FCS branches. Hausa is the common Language spoken in this part of the country.
One major area which we trust God for help, is the mobilisation of associates and helpers, this we have started with the strategy of seven AFCS branches in Sokoto State, as against the former two, and five in Zamfara state as against the former two. Kebbi State associates were mobilized mostly among School teachers from different Schools, 53 of whom were trained besides those who could not attend the training, they meet in their various schools in about ten centres where the new Training Secretary’s encouragement is ongoing for them to meet weekly. As we work to mobilize more associates and restructure the zones and states appropriately. we hope by his Grace to see a turnaround in the area.
Other programmes and activities of the fellowship such as rallies,CTCs Conferences Holiday day School and so on,where lifeskills feature prominently are ongoing with hundreds of lives saved and some rededicated to Christ. New fellowship groups are springing up on regular basis especially from private schools. There are testimonies among Students of conversion from islam to Christianity, which though treated at low kid serve as an encouragement to cover up for some of the sisters, who because of money easily get bought over to change their faith.
The challenge of place of worship especially in Sokoto and Zamfara states is still lingering, this leaves Students(committed ones)with the only option of treking long to nearby churches to have fellowship. Our Students in The Polytechnic (Scas campus) still fellowship in the Bush, even as School Authority kept disturbing them to leave and stop meeting. We trust That God will have his way and to do something also about FCS restarting in Usman Danfodio University Sokoto.
An Area POSEC and Associates conference is billed to take place in the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda in May this year, we are trusting God for five hundred students and associates some of whom the Lord will encounter afresh, do pray with us.
‘’A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation; I the lord will hasten it in his time’’. (Isa 60:22) says the Scripture. Even though Sokoto state is the centre of Islamic religion in Nigeria and a hard soil to penetrate, the Lord has been faithful; helping us to share the gospel and the Holy Ghost bringing many to faith in Christ Jesus through our little effort. By God’s grace the mission work in the entire Area is progressing against all odds. We trust the Lord to hasten it timely and with great results in Jesus name.
